Check Out Meryl Streep’s Breathtaking and Sophisticated Manhattan Penthouse That’s Up For Grabs
Listing Price
A magnificent Manhattan penthouse that has been the property of Meryl Streep for over a decade is now up for sale. However, buying the condominium isn’t going to come cheap. This four-bedroom condo situated in the expensive Tribeca neighborhood of New York City has an asking price of $24.6 million which approximately translates to $6,200 for each square foot.
Streep and Don Gummer reportedly bought the home for $10.13 sometime in 2006. The house listing came only a couple of months after Streep bought a midcentury home located in Pasadena, California for $3.6 million. The prospective owners of the penthouse would be getting it for $24.6 million, and that price would get them a space spanning 3,944 square feet.
Property Details
The condo’s floor plan has 4 bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, and an exquisite and modern kitchen. There is also a wraparound terrace that affords the occupants of the house beautiful views of the nearby Hudson River.
The couple got this 13th-floor penthouse as their city base as their primary residence is their estate spanning 90 acres in rustic Salisbury. This ranks as the very first time that the house would be available ever since the completion of the building in 2004.
The apartment has a private elevator that offers a direct access to both the apartment as well as its skylight gallery. There is a massive living room and a dining area that leads up to a cozy library which comes with its own wood-burning fireplace.
Attractive Brazilian plank floors are covering the ground of the home. One other notable feature of the property is its terrace which is 10 feet wide and is also plant filled and covers three different sides of the apartment. It also has triple-glazed and floor-to-ceiling windows that provide expansive views of the Manhattan skyline and the river.
Other Peculiar Details
There is a chef’s kitchen that is fully equipped. The modern kitchen has a Sub-Zero refrigerator, six-burner gas cooktop, and two Miele ovens. There is a den not too far from the kitchen that offers impressive city views both to the south and the east.
The condo’s master bedroom suite has two bathrooms, its own dressing areas, and an enclosed sitting area. Another bedroom also comes with its own en suite while the remaining two rooms share a bathroom.
River Lofts complex has two buildings. There is a smaller building that was formerly a masonry warehouse which was subsequently converted in 2003. On the other hand, the second building has 3 units, and that is exactly where Streep’s own apartment is located.
It was designed by Tsao & McKown. However, it is important to bear in mind that the apartment comes with a couple of ancillary costs. The listing indicated that it costs $8,162 to maintain the house monthly and its real estate tax comes in at $12,048.
