Brad Pitt Built 109 Homes After Hurricane Katrina But They Had One MAJOR Flaw

Lately, Brad Pitt has been making headlines for many reasons. The Hollywood A-Lister’s high-profile divorce from Angelina Jolie is dying down in the tabloids, but there’s a story that’s catching the reporters’ attention. Last week, Brad Pitt attended Jennifer Aniston’s 50th birthday party, and it stirred up a whirlwind of rumors. While Brad tries to focus on some creative projects to forget about his worries, he landed in yet another controversy. In 2005, Hurricane Katrina left many people homeless in New Orleans which is when Brad stepped in to help the victims.

The actor built at least 109 homes in the Lower Ninth Ward; a working-class neighborhood destroyed by the flood. Brad’s Make it Right Foundation saved hundreds of people from becoming homeless, but over the years, the new homes started to show signs of weakness because of flaws in design and low-quality material used for construction. Just last summer, one of these beautiful homes suddenly collapsed due to poor construction.

Brad knew about the condition of these people in 2007 during the shooting of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. The actor’s interest and concern were genuine and he gathered some of the best architects to design these new homes.

The cost of building a single home tallied up to $150,000 and featured energy-efficient details, solar panels, and low utility bills. Brad spent $5 million on the project before Clinton Global Initiative and many others joined in financing the project.
